Children's Sunday School Classes

During online Fun-day School on June 13th, we re-capped the highlights of our remote Sunday School sessions since last October: seeing each other and our furry friends on Zoom, Wonder Box surprises, Celebrate Wonder videos, Bible scripture reading, games and activities, and sharing many joys and concerns.

In the Sunday morning worship service, the CGS Youth showcased their acting, singing and dancing talents in "Road Trip" - a story about broken dreams, disgruntled siblings (everyone has one), new friends, and new hope.  You can watch it again through the church website!

Our Sunday School season has ended for the current school year.  Please refer to The Word newsletter for Information about Vacation Bible School, CGS participation in the Sierra Service Project, and a blend of attending church online or in person which begins Sun., June 20th.

During In-Person Worship Sundays --------------------------------------------------------

Infants, Toddlers and Pre-School:

In this classroom, Sunday Schoolers color lesson pages, hear and read stories about Jesus, enjoy a snack, and have fun playing with toys and playground equipment.

Early Elementary:

The early elementary class for Kindergarten through 2nd grade is family-friendly and fun!  The teachers are kind and caring.  Children learn about The Bible in ways that are understandable for younger ages.

Older Elementary:

3rd through 5th graders learn about how to find things in The Bible and read stories from it. They do crafts (like playing with clay), play games, cook food, and act out stories from The Bible.

Middle School:

6th through 8th graders learn about stories from The Bible and relate lessons to everyday life, learn Manners Moments, and play games like Apples to Apples and Scrabble (Bible versions!).

High School:

9th through 12th grades share highs and lows from the week, explore scripture lessons, and reasons for those concepts. They ask questions and discuss scenarios related to The Bible.

Volunteer Opportunities

Middle School and High School youth will help with Vacation Bible School and participate in a hybrid, safe-distance version of the Sierra Service Project this summer.  The mission of SSP is "Building faith and strengthening communities through service to others."  Participants will be led through activities, thoughtful sessions and songs to explore personal faith journeys and connections with other communities.  For more information, contact Director of Youth Ministries Franklyn Shen through the church office.
